What is vector art?

Vector graphics allows us to build high-quality works of art, with clean lines and shapes that can be scaled to any size. These graphics are points, lines, curves and shapes that are based on mathematical formulas. When you scale a vector image file, it isn't low resolution and there's no loss of quality, so it can be sized to however large or small you need it to be. It's an excellent tool for putting company logos on business cards, creating poster designs, and when photo-shopping in Adobe Photoshop. Any art made with vector illustration software like Adobe Illustrator is considered vector art.

What is resolution?

Resolution is the fineness detail in an image and is measured in pixels per inch (ppi) or dots per inch (dpi). The more pixels per inch, the greater the resolution. Pixel + dimensions + measure = Number of pixels along an image’s width and height. For screen printing, 300 dpi is the standard resolution for a good quality print. See the following pictures for example on how resolution works.

This image was created at 72 dpi with 200% zoom.
Do NOT create your artwork with a 72 resolution for printing.

This image was created at 72 dpi and the file was increased to 300 dpi with 200% zoom.
Do NOT do this because it will not resolve the problem.

This image was created at 300 dpi with 200% zoom.
This image was created from the start at 300 dpi. This will result in perfect resolution.
